For 2010 the Macchiato gets the option of a carbon bullhorn bar and the new Ultegra shifting. Topolino wheels are added as an option to drop the weight to 25.2 pounds.
The small Macchiato frame weighs 6.5 pounds including EBB and seat clamps. This is about 1.25 pounds lighter than a Robusta in the same small sizw.
The Macchiato is without a doubt, the best road race tandem you can buy.
The Macchiato frame essentially ditches the lateral tube of the Robusta and uses Co-Motion's own ACMUltra 7 Aluminum tubing. The new tubeset is radically shaped at all of the intersections to make the lateral-less frame much stiffer then it's airy appearance would suggest. And it totally works! For tandem teams that are looking at a bike in the small or medium size range this is the ultimate tandem.
For taller teams (size L or XL) or heavier teams we suggest going with the Robusta and its stiffer frame.
